Counselling Services On Career Choice And Academic Performance Of Student On Secondary School Students

 

 ABSTRACT

This study was designed to investigate counselling service on career choice and academic performance of students. The design adopted for the study was export-facto research design. Two research null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The population of the study was one thousand two hundred (1200) students in the study area in all the four (4) schools in the study Area. One hundred and twenty (120) students were randomly selected from all the four schools in the study area to form the sample size.

The instruments used for data collection were questionnaire and student examination scores. The null hypotheses formulated were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The findings from the analysis revealed that there was a significant relationship between career choice and student’s academic performance in secondary school in Oron Local Government Area. It therefore recommended that trained counselors should be posted to all the secondary schools so as to help counsel student against the danger of various attitude.
